I found out that I had already written an artist statement, probably months or years ago. Here it is. There is a Spanish translation scrolling down.

Buscando en la carpeta “Mis documentos” me encontré con uno titulado “ARTIST STATEMENT”, lo cual puede traducirse algo así como “Declaración de intenciones” o “Autodefinición” de un artista.

Tras leerlo comprobé que lo había escrito yo meses o años atrás y ya que llevo algún tiempo sin publicar nada ni en este blog ni en la página me ha parecido bien situarlo en ambos sitios.

 

He aquí su traducción al castellano.

 

 

 

DECLARACIÓN DE INTENCIONES COMO ARTISTA

 

En algún momento, todo artista debe escribir una declaración de intenciones. La mía es sencilla:

Haz lo que te guste, que sea fresco, que tenga vida, hazlo auténtico y sonriendo.

No te compliques demasiado, no pretendas ser más de lo que realmente eres.

No centres tu arte en las cosas oscuras y tristes de la vida. Hay mucho por hacer que pueda referirse a la honestidad a la bondad, a la justicia y a la belleza.

Haz algo en lugar de no hacer nada. Si resulta malo o al final no te agrada, rómpelo o no lo muestres.

Sé humilde pero no te detengas ante nada. Pon tus metas tan altas como las puedas concebir. No aceptes estar limitado por los colores grises de una vida cotidiana común.

Sé feliz y justo, ama y sé amado y deja que tus sentimientos, incluso los más pequeños y delicados, impregnen todo lo que haces.

Some weeks ago I started increasing the number of followers to this blog.
